Choosing Your Shipping Option

The first step in the perishable shipping process, much like for that of the non-perishables, is to choose your method of shipping. The one thing that must be considered when shipping a perishable item is the speed. If you are shipping an item across the country, or even across the state, services like next day air or next day ground transportation should be enlisted. The faster that you can ensure that the package is received, the less likely it is that the perishable good is to spoil.

Pack Protectively

Perishable goods can take on multiple different forms, with some of the more popular being in jars or watertight plastic containers, but regardless of how the food is packaged, its shipping container must protect it.  Ideally, a sturdy corrugated box should be used for packing the materials in.
